Philosophy
Community Living Chatham-Kent Respite Services are voluntary recreational leisure based programs that aim to provide people opportunities to spend time with peers, develop additional support networks, and experience the challenges of being away from family and the learning opportunities that this may offer.
Supports are focused on ensuring that all medical, health, physical, emotional and social needs are met. Coordination of additional supports and opportunities are also emphasized.
Respite Services are available to all parents/guardians of persons who have diverse abilities in the Chatham-Kent area. It is also hoped this will provide families with a much needed break that will assist them in continuing to support the unique needs of their family member.
About
Respite Services are provided in a home environment which allows an opportunity to share accommodations with peers and learn related skills. Full sleeping, bathing, kitchen and laundry facilities are available. Recreational activities outside of the location are planned according to community events, availability and funding. Television, movies, board games, card games, toys (for children), computers, crafts, a gaming system(s) etc. are available to everyone using respite services and WIFI.
From age 15, we also offer social/recreational programs and summer employment experiences.
