Outward Bound

Outward Bound is a voluntary program which provides recreation, leisure, and volunteer opportunities and support based on personal choice with a focus on connecting people to their communities.

The location offers a kitchenette, craft room, game and TV room, Snoezelen activities, and a direct care space for everyone to enjoy. People are able to enjoy the secure outdoor area which includes an accessible patio, picnic area, loungers, gazebo, and beautiful green space.

Outward Bound provides support Monday to Friday from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. Each person receives up to seven hours of support weekly. Some small group activities are planned which extends their hours of support. Community based activities, chosen by the person include swimming, bowling, walking nature trails, board games, library, touring museums, and joining craft groups.

Community Awareness

Zoom activities are facilitated daily, keeping people connected to their friends. These activities include crafts, Crock-Pot cooking, BINGO, Zumba, karaoke, trivia games, and special events.

Through Outward Bound, people research upcoming events throughout Chatham-Kent. Some community events include Blenheim Cherry Fest, Chatham Crow Fest, Retro Fest, Blenheim Music in the Park, and more.

Outward Bound is connected with many wonderful volunteering organizations including the Chatham-Kent Salvation Army, Ashley’s Place, Riverview Gaming, Active Lifestyle Centre, Riverview Gardens, Outreach for Hunger, Rock Missions, Chatham Goodfellows, and more!

Along with ensuring activities are focused on personal goals, DSPs support people attending medical appointments, grocery shopping, paying bills, haircuts, and personal shopping.
