The Grand Opening of the Soccer Field House last evening drew a great crowd.
In 2014, Community Living Chatham-Kent approached the Municipality of Chatham-Kent requesting to store items such as a barbeque and tables as part of a canteen service provided by JOBWORX – Employment Services during soccer games. Additionally, Chatham-Kent citizens had voiced concerns about the conditions of onsite portable bathrooms. The Chatham Youth Soccer Association had raised apprehension regarding their lack of ability to store equipment required for fourteen mini pitches on site. It was suggested that all parties would meet to discuss the issues and perhaps come up with a shared solution to address everyone’s needs.
As a result of hard work, and great partnerships, a collaborative effort has produced a Soccer Field House that benefits everyone. The fully accessible building is comprised of washrooms, family room facility, soccer storage space, and a full-service canteen which is operated by Community Living Chatham-Kent.
Community partnerships included Chatham-Kent Health & Family Services, Chatham Youth Soccer Association, Community Living Chatham-Kent, and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent Council.
Chatham-Kent is very proud to service the needs of families and continues to support the health of our community through positive recreational opportunities and facilities.
