The Industrial Department is the largest Sheltered Employment/Training program. The department has a complement of 55 participants under the supervision of 5 full time and 1 part-time staff.

The work environment is reflective of Industrial Standards for safety, quality, and dependability. Recognition as a viable industrial supplier has been established and maintained with business industries in Chatham-Kent and surrounding areas.

Companies rely on scheduled monthly volumes of parts and sub-assemblies processed to meet their production schedules as well as short term demands. The means of these contracts creates a functional need for work which is a vital tool and method of promoting personal and skill development in the workplace.

Through the process of contracts to meet industry requirements, various jobs and responsibilities challenge and motivate skill application and attainment. Abilities of all levels have an opportunity to grow and excel in the work place. Each personal contribution and effort is integral towards successful completion of contracts.

From basic sub-assembly to complex zero tolerance processing, quality control checking, material parts handling, packaging, and finally shipping, productive involvement is catalytic in development of pride, self-esteem and self-worth.

The Industrial Department takes pride in working with both large and small companies and takes delight in their ability to effectively handle large and small volumes to their customer’s satisfaction.

Onbelay Automotive Coatings Corporation  - Assembly of parts for vehicle suspension systems

• Racking of small and large size washers which are returned to the company for painting prior to being used for bar assemblies.
• Assembly of 7 different bar sub-assemblies.

Wolseley - Preparation of gloves for company distribution to various customers

• Pairing, rolling, and fastening of gloves both new and clean used gloves for dispensing in automated machines in factories.

Can Gro Foods - Preparation for relabeling of cans

• Removal of labels from canned products.
• Quality inspect, count, and stack cans in lots from 1600 to 2250 per pallet based on size.

Metaldyne - Preparation of part needed for the grounding system for Ford vehicles

• Precision stapling rubber straps ensuring staple is flush with the strap.
• Quality inspect and count finished product.

Meritor - Parts used in Saturn vehicles

• Left and right bar caps are cut using a punch press.
• Caps are applied to each end of a metal bar.
• Label is affixed to completed bars.
• Bars are quality inspected and precision packed.

Union Gas - Preparing large volume mailings, DVD mailings, rebates, advertising

• Folding, collating, stuffing envelopes, inserting inserts, sealing, labeling.
• Placing DVD into sleeve, placing specified number into envelope, seal and label according to region.
• Sorting rebates in categories of complete and incomplete information received, applying stickers to indicate missing information, bundle in counts of 50 according to category.

Chamberlain Press - Preparation of large volume advertizing mailings for local business

• Folding inserts, collating inserts, stuffing envelopes, affixing address labels, and sealing where required.

Rodger Industries - Parts used in automated machines for milking cows

• Assemble two metal hangers together with nuts and bolts.
• Assembly of two metal hangers with nuts & bolts and grommets inserted.
