People who spend their time at Community Living Chatham-Kent’s Adult Respite Program have a new addition to the activity menu.
Diane Mayor of Tilbury is frequently looking for ways to enhance the community supports offered to her son, Travis. Mayor became connected with Esther Stavert of Chatham through a facebook post asking if anyone would be willing to donate a pool table. Stavert answered the call, generously making the pool table donation. “I am ecstatic,” said Mayor. “I wanted something for Travis to do while at Respite, to further interact with others.” She and her family appreciate the support that Travis receives from the agency.
Chris Mason of Unifor Local 1941, Tilbury, covered the cost to transport the pool table to the location. According to Mason, “Unifor Local 1941 likes to help not-for-profit agencies as much as possible”. This is the second pool table the Local has assisted with.
Mason explained that Unifor Local 1941 also provides opportunities for student bursaries, and gives back to their community.
