Pitch In Award
June 15, 2009During Earth Week this past April, the men and several volunteer/employees all "pitched in" to participate in the municipal "Pitch In" project. Thanks to the efforts of Calvin Antaya, who initiated the contact with the city on the men's behalf, the group from 17/19 Forest were assigned the Jaycee Park to clean. Due to the many hands available, the group was able to clear away the garbage and debris in a short time. They then chose to also go to 650 Riverview and clean the lawn area of the Community Living administration offices.
After the Pitch In week, the group at Forest found out that they had been chosen through a draw, sponsored by Tim Horton's on Park Avenue, to acknowlege the hard work that was completed. Our group, along with the Boy Scouts and Cargill, were honoured on June 15, 2009, and presented with gift baskets from Tim Horton's, along with a photo shoot to recognize everyone's contributions. A wonderful experience for ALL!
